REPORT ON THE PARTICIPATION OF THE UMT STAFF FOOTBALL TEAM TO TERENGGANU FORCED SOCCER TOURNAMENT 2020
The UMT Staff Football Team participated in the 2020 MAKSAK Terengganu Football Tournament on 19 to 21 February 2020 at the Lagun Football Field, Kuala Ibai, Kuala Terengganu.
A total of 30 teams from all over the state of Terengganu have participated in the tournament this time. The UMT team also did not miss out on participating in this year's edition. The format of the competition this year has not changed compared to the previous year, which is to play in 11 teams and must field 3 veteran players in each match.
The UMT team was drawn in group A with the Bomba and Imigersin teams. In the first match, the UMT team played against the Bomba team with a 1-1 draw. The UMT team does not want to whitewash their eyes in this edition. In the second meeting, the UMT team successfully defeated the team
Immigration with a 3-1 decision. With this win, the UMT team successfully qualified for the next round when they ranked 2nd in group A.
The result of the knockout draw, the UMT team will face the tournament's first seeded team, MBKT A. With a reputation as a seeded team and the inclusion of several former state players, UMT has a rather difficult path to the next level. The factors of fitness, age and the advantage of talent and experience did favor the MBKT A team. This was proven when the UMT team was defeated by the MBKT A team with a result of 0-2 in the 2nd round.
