A total of 12 UMT students attended the 2023 National Jury Referee Course on 9 to 12 November 2023 at the Terengganu State Sports Council.
The course organized by the Terengganu State Silat Association (PESAKA) in collaboration with the National PESAKA was held to update the laws and regulations of the sport of silat that will be used in the upcoming major tournaments.
The UMT Student Affairs Department has agreed to approve participation in the course to open up space and opportunities for UMT students to gain management qualifications in martial arts as well as added value that may be used after leaving the university.
Following the refereeing course, 4 UMT students namely Nur Hidayah Binti Ali, Mohamad Hussairie Bin Zamri, Noramirah Syahirah Binti Abdullah and Nur Syafiqah Natasya Binti Mohamad Salleh from the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Development (FPEPS) have been selected as Jury Referees for the National Silat Carnival Terengganu on 14 to 17 December 2023 at the Terengganu State Indoor Stadium, Gong Badak.
Immediately after the tournament, 2 more UMT students namely Noramirah Syahirah Binti Abdullah and Nur Syafiqah Natasya Binti Mohamad Salleh from the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Development (FPEPS) were selected as Jury Referees for the Pre-SUKMA Silar Tournament on 23 to 27 December 2023 at Parit Raja Batu Pahat, Johor.
Hopefully the space and opportunities given can be utilized as best as possible by UMT students so that they can continue to contribute to dignify sports to a higher level.
