June 22, 2021<\/strong> : Students at Public Institutions of Higher Education (IPTA) are among the groups affected in the learning process despite the Covid-19 disaster and the Movement Control Order (MCO) across the country. The students could not continue their studies at the University and had to follow the learning from home online. However, there are some constraints faced by students in terms of device and internet facilities for them to carry out various tasks online. In addition, not all of them are able to obtain these basic facilities and some of them are from poor and indigent families.<\/p>

To ease the burden on students, the Tungku Abdul Rahman Foundation (YTAR) in collaboration with the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) has agreed to donate 25 units of devices (laptops) to selected and qualified students at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). In addition, lump sum assistance (one-off)\u00a0<\/em>as much as RM600 was also given to the student for the payment of internet data for a period of one year. This payment will be credited directly into the relevant student account.<\/p>

The list of recipients of this donation are those who are from the B40 group and group of students who are studying at UMT. The assistance given is expected to help and make it easier for the students to continue learning online with internet facilities and devices without any constraints and lack of financial burden faced by themselves or their respective families.<\/p>

More sustainable device software and hardware specifications in terms of usability, lifespan and good warranty support are expected to help students adapt to the new norm of online learning. Device help<\/strong>\u00a0This will be distributed to all recipients at an immediate rate and made using two methods, namely direct delivery to those around the state and through postal or courier services for those outside the state of Terengganu.<\/p>

The distribution of devices complete with internet access to B40 students at IPTA clearly shows that the government through various agencies is very serious in providing learning focus to students at the university. These groups are never neglected and they continue to be helped in whatever aspect is needed. This donation is to ensure that the delivery of education to the nation's children does not stop even though the country is facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
