Discovery Sailing Series 1/2023 (Inter Faculty)

The organization of Discovery Sailing Series 1/2023 (Inter Faculty) was organized by the Sailing Training Center, Student Affairs and Alumni on July 26-27, 2023. In line with the HEPA Initiative 'Sailing for All' this inaugural program invited 6 faculties/ academic center at UMT to send their respective teams. Interestingly, it received prompt feedback from all the faculties including the deans and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) who also sailed together.

The program has a relaxed Fun Race concept, where each team has to race one-on-one in a slow wind (Day 1) and a strong wind (Day 2), thus testing the team's level of cooperation and strategy.

FPSM Sailing Team led by Prof. Dr. Mohd Affendy Abd Wahid emerged as Champion after receiving fierce opposition from the PPAL Sailing Team in the final round of the Final Race which was also driven by their dean Prof. Dr. Asyraf Abd Rahman. However, fate was not on the side of the FPM team who were only able to be in 3rd place despite being represented by many sailing experts including their dean Prof. Dr. Wan Norsani Wan Nik.

Thanks to Prof. Ts.Dr. Mohd Zamri Ibrahim for being willing to participate in the final race and complete the closing ceremony which was done in a relaxed way at Duyong Marina Resort.

It is hoped that the main objective of the program, which is to disseminate information related to PLP-HEPA initiatives and activities, has reached the top management of each faculty. Many thanks to the PKK and CRAFS UMT for helping to make this tournament a success. Finally, thanks to TNC (HEPA) PM Dr. Mohd Izani Mohd Zain, for his support in organizing this program and his promptness in implementing the HEPA initiative.
