Universiti Malaysia Terengganu Student and Alumni Affairs (HEPA)

Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) has started with a Center for Fisheries and Ocean Sciences in 1979, which provides training facilities for students of the Fisheries and Ocean Sciences Program in addition to providing research facilities for lecturers. Through the restructuring of the academic program at UPM, the entire Faculty of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences has been transferred to Terengganu and given a new name which is Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FSGT) from June 1996. Also established is Faculty of Science and Specialized Arts (FSSI) and Center for Matriculation Studies (PPM).

From June 1996, this campus was recognized (internally by UPM) as a center of responsibility and named University of Agriculture Malaysia Terengganu Branch (UPMT) and led by a Rector (designate). The Council of Ministers in its meeting on 5 May 1999 has agreed to approve the proposed establishment Terengganu University College (KUT) based at the Fisheries and Marine Science Center of the Agricultural University of Malaysia in Mengabang Telipot, Kuala Terengganu.

Terengganu University College (Incorporation) Order 1999 (PUA 292) was approved by the Dewan Rakyat on 26 July 1999. KUT is UPM affiliated campus and students will be awarded a degree from UPM. KUT was granted autonomous authority as Terengganu University College on May 1, 2001. On July 1, 2001, KUT officially changed its name to College of Universiti Sains dan Teknologi Malaysia with the abbreviation KUSTEM.

Starting on February 1, 2007 corresponding to 13 Muharram 1428 H, another history was created in the education system in Malaysia. In an effort to strengthen the position of the National Institute of Higher Education, six University Colleges have gone through the rebranding of university colleges. Now KUSTEM is known as University of Malaysia Terengganu.
