Aiming to preserve the knowledge of Terengganu's traditional boat/ship making carpentry. This is the first step of our efforts by including this special course in the student's practice at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) which is MNS2203 (Basic Competence of Navigation) which is guided by the traditional boat builders of Duyong Island (pok hasyim).
Wan Nordin Wan Abdullah, 66, or more affectionately known as Pak Hasyim, has been working with sawdust and carpentry tools for more than 34 years to produce various types of traditional sailboats from the land of his birth.
